Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is used to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from another, often with the objective to fraud the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally receive it. The record contains all email servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message will not be sent and it will be removed. In case you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam emails that appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain hosted in a shared website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a few clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domains from a drop-down menu and to enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This feature will give you the highest degree of protection, but it's not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain are handled in a different place. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, which is provided with our semi-dedicated plans, provides you with a really user-friendly interface to activate the SPF security service for each domain name that you host inside your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you will only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. In case the e-mails are managed on our end and not by some other supplier, you'll be able to boost the protection level even further and take advantage of an option for all the outgoing e-mail messages to be sent only if your domains use our MX records. This option will provide you with increased control and it'll eliminate any possibility of someone forging your e-mails with the objective of spamming or scamming people. It's not applicable if only your web site is on our state-of-the-art cloud web hosting platform, while your e-mails are managed by a different provider. If you aren't sure what features to choose, our tech support staff will help you 24/7.
